Story
Nandar and John met in Yangon, Myanmar in 2019. Nandar was working at a Canadian development organization. John was a newly arrived political officer at the embassy. John took Nandar out to his beloved Gekko restaurant, and Nandar wowed John with her grace on and off the dance floor. For some reason, Nandar liked John too. Their relationship flourished despite John being evacuated for 9 months due to the pandemic, and withstood the Myanmar military's coup, which the Burmese people continue to heroically resist.
John and Nandar moved to Washington, D.C. in 2021, Nandar to do a Master's in International Development at American University and John to work in the presumably boring field of European security. John proposed to Nandar in July 2021 on top of the roof of the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. They will honeymoon in Hawaii. In Fall 2024 they move to Egypt. Come visit!
